Recipe 6: Chocolate Gingerbread Bars

Martha, what do you mean by “cookie”? Chocolate Gingerbread Bars do not look like cookies, but they look good!

I bet by the end of this I won’t care whether or not it’s a cookie. Continue reading

Recipe 5: Cranberry Coins

When I hear “cranberry coins” I always think of the can of jellied cranberry sauce that Dustin and I remove from the can (whole) and slice it into coins. This recipe was perfect for Thanksgiving!

Recipe 4: Mocha Slice Cookies

Today’s recipe comes from the McCormick free Sugar & Spice recipe add-on to the app. Brennan was in town for a couple days and wanted to bake with me. We settled on this one because it looked good and pretty simple.

Recipe 3: Glitter Ball Cookies

I went to Starbucks yesterday and they had all their holiday stuff out. I want everything! I probably said, “ooh, I NEED this” 15 times. Ask Megan.

I know that last week I said I was in the holiday spirit, but now I really am. So I rushed home from work, queued up A Very She & Him Christmas on Airplay and started making Glitter Ball Cookies (with creamy ginger filling).

I’ve wanted to make these since the day I bought the app, but didn’t want to jump into something too complicated, too soon. The “glitter” freaked me out. The “sandwiching” freaked me out. I’m on recipe 3, the first 2 were a success, so I went for it.

Recipe 2: Mexican Hot-Chocolate Cookies

Okay, people. I had a lot of fun forcing all my friends to read my blog. I got lots of views and the people who tried my Peanut-Chocolate Chip Cookies loved them. I’ll admit, I got a little cocky. I was ready to make a gazillion more.

So today I decided to make Mexican Hot-Chocolate Cookies. They didn’t look too difficult and it was time for cocoa. Glenn Coco.

Yum, right?! Continue reading

Recipe 1: Flourless Peanut-Chocolate Chip Cookies

I started right away! Same day I bought the stand and app!

The app is pretty cool. Clean, large pictures, everything looks tasty, some videos (!), and baking tips (I need them).

For my first cookie, I wanted something I couldn’t fuck up. Something with just a few ingredients and nothing fancy. I’m not ready for frosting. I’m also not ready for any kind of chocolate dipping. Or powered sugar. I didn’t choose chocolate chip because I’ve ruined those before. I went with Flourless (good idea) Peanut-Chocolate Chip.

7 ingredients. Awesome. I can do this.

Here’s what they’re supposed to look like (app screenshot):

Yum, right? I’m feeling inspired. I can make this shit happen. Continue reading

I can’t bake. (I think)

Ever since I heard about the Belkin Chef Stand + Stylus, I wanted it!

So today I bought one. I also bought the Martha Stewart Makes Cookies app for my iPad for $4.99. Spendy for an app, right? I justified it by saying I’d bake and blog my way through it. So you, my loyal follower(s), you depend on me. I have to keep it up or you’ll shrivel up and die. I know how it is.

I’m not a baker. I’m lazy.
Wait, let me back up. In middle school, I got the highest grade in my home ec class “Baking and Boxers” (we baked and sewed boxer shorts).
High school rolled around and I lost my gift. My friend Jaydra and I baked, but we used the “we suck at baking” excuse. Our food was no treat.

I like my iPad, I like cookies, and I want to be cool. So, here I go.
